Tara Coker Devine, PhD - Founder

Dr. Devine received a Ph.D. in Human Development from Fielding Graduate University. She holds an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southwestern, an MA in Human Development from the Fielding Graduate University and a BS in Psychology from Texas A&M University. Her research has centered on resilience and positive life adaptation in the face of adversity.

Dr. Devine is a developmental psychologist, licensed clinical therapist, family therapist and clinical supervisor. She has practiced as a family, individual and group therapist with children, adolescents and adults in hospital, residential and school settings in Maine and Texas. As Director of Clinical Services, Dr. Devine was part of developing and expanding a Maine residential care facility’s programs from two to seven to improve continuity of care and opportunity for resilient adaptation. In 2004, she founded Resilience, Inc., a licensed non-profit mental health and substance abuse agency that integrated its services into physicians’ practices for children and families experiencing post-trauma and who were historically underserved. Dr. Devine accepted the invitation to join The Monarch Institute for Neurological Differences in Houston in 2007 as Director of Therapeutic Services to guide and develop programs that emphasized strength-based developmental growth priorities. She trained and supervised graduate and postgraduate level interns, supported families in developing competence in children with neurological differences and coordinated integrated care for learners, their families, and ancillary caregivers.

Dr. Devine is passionate about teaching and mentoring interns and new therapists in innovative, collaborative, and relationship-based therapeutic care of children, adolescents, and adults with neurological differences. She remains particularly interested in affecting graduate level curriculum that will prepare therapists in scaffolding positive life adaptation for this population. In 2014, Dr. Devine together with Dr. Neal Sarahan formed Integral Flow, LLC and co-created a copyrighted developmental and relationship-based approach―Integral Flow Growth Map©―to support clients and their families affected by neurological differences. Additionally, they championed the new approach to human service organizations across the country. 100% of organizations served reported that children, adolescents, adults, and their families demonstrated developmental improvements in competence, independence, social care, and belonging.

Recently, Dr. Devine has expanded the mission of Integral Flow, LLC, to include The Neurodevelopment Center of Greater Houston and to serve the therapeutic and developmental expansion needs of children, individuals, families and organizations of Houston, surrounding areas and around the world.
